    Ashburton Primary School is seeking to appoint an experienced SENCO. The successful candidate will be non-class based and will have responsibility for leading, managing, developing and maintaining high-quality SEN provision. This post is 0.3 initially - it is expected that additional hours will become available for 2019-2020 as the budget allows. There will also be opportunities for the post holder to take on teaching cover within the school as and when it arises if desired.

     

    The successful candidate will have:

  • Absolute commitment to an inclusive education for all children

  • An active, innovative and determined approach to finding ways to enable all children to achieve their very best.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to gain and maintain trusting relationships with families in stressful circumstances

  • A good knowledge of the SENCO code of practice and experience of the EHCP process and Early Help services.

  • Ability to engage, enthuse and support staff and pupils with a positive approach.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with other professionals

  • Ability to understand and explain complex information.

  • Experience in supporting SEND children and their families and ideally a knowledge of Thrive.

  • The successful applicant will undertake, or already have, the National Award for SENCOs which is a mandatory part of the role.
