Design Technology at Ashburton is taught through a carefully thought out curriculum, which draws on pupils’ creativity and imagination to design and make products with real and relevant purposes in a variety of contexts, with consideration paid to the needs, wants and values of the user. Drawing on a range of different disciplines, and building up a broad subject knowledge, children will develop the relevant understanding and skills to manage a project from beginning to end: researching the needs of the user, evaluating strengths, weaknesses and necessities required to meet the purpose, designing and making a product, and evaluating the success of this. From their design technology education, they will leave our school as innovative, resourceful, reflective and capable students, able to contribute, change and develop our future nation.
