Maths at Ashburton Primary
The intent of our Maths curriculum is to deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that: All children are INSPIRED to develop their talents and love learning about all aspects of the Maths Curriculum Children BELIEVE in themselves and their abilities; Children DISCOVER and enjoy a wide range of experiences; Children ACHIEVE their full potential in Maths Children BELONG to a supportive class environment that encourages growth mind set
At Ashburton Primary School, our Maths education enables our children to master all of the National Curriculum objectives in each year group as they progress through the school. Our intention is to support children as they develop a deep understanding of how the number system works and the vocabulary they need to express their mathematical reasoning. We provide our children with opportunities to apply their Mathematical knowledge to solve problems in a stimulating variety of contexts. From the beginning of their Maths journey in Reception, children will establish a fluent recall of number facts that form the foundations of successful Mathematical learning.
